The James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College welcomed more than 300 Piedmont Technical College graduates for two commencement ceremonies to celebrate their accomplishments. Ray Brooks, president, welcomed graduates, family and guests to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.

The Indiana Access to Public Records Act enacted in 1983 is a series of laws that guarantees the public has access to public records of government bodies at all levels in Indiana.

In addition the Indiana Open Door Law enacted in 1977 legislates the methods by which public meetings are conducted.

Request Indiana state criminal histories and obtain inmate information.

Research both Indiana state and federal court cases online.

During the afternoon ceremony for business and information technology, public service, industrial and engineering technologies and nursing, graduates were addressed by Katie Mc Carty, a business administration-office management graduate from Greenwood; and Linda Lopez, an associate degree nursing major from Greenwood.

Mc Carty shared her experiences while at Piedmont Technical College with the online classes and how they helped her maintain a long-distance relationship with her fiancé, Stephen Dannenmaier.

Indiana has 3,631 populated places including cities, towns, neighborhoods, subdivisions and settlements.

With a few exceptions all cities are third-class cities with a seven member city council and an elected clerk treasurer.

“By creating a better future for yourselves, you are creating a better world for everyone.” Lopez talked about her journey in the nursing program.

She reminded the graduates that they had worked hard to reach their goal and should continue to work hard in the future.

“Graduation is not an ending, it is a beginning,” Brooks said.
